Upcoming Races!

Hi all!  I have four races coming up that I'm really excited about - one is going to help me complete one of my 2014 Running Goals!

1. Feel The Love 5k - February 8

This Saturday Drew and I are running the Feel the Love 5k.  I'm so excited about this race!!  It's in an awesome location, The Navy Yard in Philadelphia.  The Navy Yard is in the very southern point if PHiladelphia, and the old ship yard has been converted into a park and business park.  One of my best friends actually works down there at the Urban Outfitters Corporate offices.  Anyway, the race course is 2 loops, and everyone runs with a "couple."  You run in opposite directions, so you pass each other twice!  And you have combined times!  It's in the afternoon, and there's an after party following it.  It's going to be hilarious!  I want to run fast,  but I'm mostly concerned about having fun.  One of my coworkers is racing too, with her husband.  I hope the weather isn't horrendous...

2. Frostbite 5-Miler - February 22

I ran this race last year in 41:15, and I'm hoping to beat that this year.  I had a lot of fun!  It was frickin' freezing, and it probably will be again this year.  I just found out my mom is leaving for good the day before this race, so this will be the first race I run alone...I will run extra fast for her.  :((

3. Cooper River Bridge Run 10k - April 5

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS RUN!  1. It's in Charleston!!  Drew's family has a place there, and it's easily one of my favorite cities.  2. It's the largest 10k in the country!  The race is capped at 38,500 participants. 3. It will be my destination run for 2014!  One goal for the year was to race in a completely different city.  Check.  So I will be flying to Charleston that Friday night, meeting his family at their condo, running the race with Drew the next morning, spending the rest of the day and night in Charleston being merry, and flying home the next day!  I am beyond excited.  We all spent the Fourth of July in Charleston last year and had the best time.  Fun fact: Drew, his brother, and his mom were part of the first 50 people to walk across the Cooper River Bridge after it was rebuilt in 2005.

That's the Cooper River Bridge in the background!

My very patriotic Fourth of July outfit :)
4. The Broad Street Run 10-Miler - May 4

Again, I am SO excited for this race.  I ran it for the first time last year in about 1:23:00.  It is a huge race - about 40,000 participants, and is very famous in Philadelphia.  It's a point-to-point race, straight down Broad Street, and is basically all downhill.  It ends at the Navy Yard, the same location as the Feel the Love 5k this weekend.  I had so much last year and I can't wait to do it again.  Oh, I should mention, my race entry isn't guaranteed yet.  Because of the tremendous popularity of this race (a couple of years ago it sold out in 5 hours), it's now on a lottery system.  The lottery is going on right now and ends next week.  Last year, everyone I knew who entered got a spot, so I bet that I'll get a spot again this year.  There are 40,000 spots so...there'a good chance. Fingers crossed!

Broad Street Run 2013

My parents, Drew, and myself are wearing CU gear - go Buffs!!
I may throw a few more races in here between all these, but for now these are the ones on my radar.  I am toying with the idea of doing a half marathon in May or something, but I haven't planned anything.  I can't wait to race again!  I haven't raced since December, which is the longest I've gone since Thanksgiving 2012!  Yikes.

Bonus picture:  I found this picture of me on a race website the other day!  Score!
